Dr. Helmkamp is the Sr. Epidemiologist at the the Denver Regional Office
of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health where he
provides occupational safety and health consultative services to the
Western U.S. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate
School of Public Health where he was awarded his PhD, and was honored in
2008 as a 'Distinguished Alumni.' Previously, Dr.Helmkamp was the Director
of the WVU Injury Control Research Center from 2004-2009 and a Research Professor
in the Department of Community Medicine. Jim served on active duty in the Navy
from 1970 - 1995. He is a Fellow in the American College of Epidemiology.
Dr. Helmkamp's research interests include both work-related and
recreational (All-terrain vehicles) morbidity and mortality.
