Ashish NimbarteResearch Interests

Dr. Nimbarte’s research interest is musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). His research projects evaluate the etiology of different types of work-related MSD such as low back disorders, carpel tunnel syndrome, and cervical spine disorders. His recent work focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of cervical spine disorders due to forceful arm exertions. He is using a multidisciplinary integrated approach that couples experimental methods (electromyography, motion, and force data) with biomechanical modeling techniques (optimization, musculoskeletal modeling) in order to understand the loading of the cervical spine during a variety of arm and head exertions. His long term goal is to develop effective control strategies to prevent acute and chronic neck or cervical spine disorders due to work or recreational activities.
