Michael Smith

Michael Smith Michael Smith, PhD, RPh, is Assistant Dean and Associate Professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy. Dr. Smith received his bachelor's degree in pharmacy and PhD degree in Pharmacy Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. Since 2005, Dr. Smith has held an associate faculty position with the West Virginia University Injury Control Research Center. He also served as a member of the West Virginia Asthma Coalition and conducted asthma surveillance for the CDC-funded West Virginia Asthma Education and Prevention Program. Dr. Smith conducts secondary data research to investigate "real world" health care use patterns and costs. He has published studies describing medical services and prescription use patterns and costs for various chronic diseases, and acute care medical services use for injuries among children covered by Medicaid. He currently is a co-investigator on an ICRC project headed by Dr. Ted Miller investigating the frequency of catastrophic injury victims who become Medicaid recipients.
