Research Training Program in the Behavioral and Biomedical Sciences (BBS)

In order to train scientists for careers as independent investigators, the Research Training Program in the Behavioral and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) at West Virginia University provides:

1. Rigorous predoctoral research training in the behavioral sciences, from experimental analysis of behavior and behavioral neuroscience using animal models and human subjects, to disease-relevant clinical/translational behavioral research, to population-based behavioral research.



2. A strong grounding in the biomedical sciences, particularly as it relates to behavioral research. The overall objective is to provide state-of-the-art biomedical research training to behavioral scientists, so that they possess the necessary background and skills to conduct research at multiple levels (e.g., animal models, clinical and community populations) and to incorporate physiological, biochemical, molecular, and genetic approaches into their research.
