Meet the Wellness Program Staff
The Health Sciences Campus of West Virginia University is dedicated to providing opportunities for employees to create and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. The Wellness programs are offered to all WVUH, UHA, and WVU employees at the Health Sciences Center (family members may participate as space permits). Please call the Wellness Office at 293-2520.

Dave Harshbarger, MS - Manager, Wellness -- Program Director, Ornish

Biography

Originally from West Virginia, Dave has been with West Virginia University Hospitals since 1995 as the Wellness Manager for the Health Sciences Campus of West Virginia University. Here he manages an on-site wellness program for more than 7,000 employees. Dave is also the Program Director for the Dr. Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease which is a clinical program offered to patients. Prior to this he lived in the Boston, MA area for eight years while working for Fitcorp. While at Fitcorp, he managed fitness and wellness facilities and oversaw the delivery of these services to corporate clients.

Dave earned his M.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Delaware, and his B.S. from West Virginia University in Physical Education. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Wellness Council of West Virginia since in 1995 and past president and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Mon River Trails Conservancy better known as our local Rails Trails.

Adam Flack MPH - Senior Health Educator

Biography

Adam hails from Charleston, West Virginia and is one of the newer members of the Wellness staff. He joined the organization in April 2010 and has responsibility for editing the Wellness newsletter and serving as webmaster. He also works with developing programs in nutrition, personal fitness, and participatory sports. Adam is a graduate of West Virginia University with a Regents baccalaureate degree and a master’s degree in public health.

Adam has a keen interest in fitness, gardening, hiking, and camping. He is also the parent of three boxer dogs.

Diane Richardson - Staff Assistant

Biography

Diane is a native of Morgantown, WV and started working at WVU in 1975. She has worked in many departments including: WVU's Recreation & Intramural Sports, School of Pharmacy, Urology, and Otolaryngology. After taking some time off to raise her family, she returned to work for West Virginia University Hospitals in 1985 working for the departments of Clinical Labs, Patient Financial Services, and Human Resources before transferring to The Wellness Program in September of 2001.

She enjoys spending time with her family -- daughters, Elizabeth & Jodi and husband Mike.

Sarah Morriston, BS - Graduate Assistant

Biography

Sarah is one of two graduate assistants working part-time in the Wellness Program. This is her first semester to be involved in the Wellness Program where she spends most of her time doing personal fitness coaching for employees and their dependents, nutrition action plans, and promoting seasonal programs.

Originally from Summersville, Sarah received her B.S. in Exercise Physiology from West Virginia University and is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at WVU.

Biography

Kevin is our newest intern, working on his Bachelor's degree from Slippery Rock University in Public Health. Kevin's internship will focus on assessing the health of an employee population through the use of online surveys. Kevin has a storng background in fitness training and is a competitive bodybuilder in his free time.
