Wellness Champion

Dave Watson, WVU-HSC employee

Dave participated in our Biggest Loser 2009 program and attended nearly every session of Body Boot Camp in hopes of getting into better shape and to train for a 5K. While he did lose about 8 lbs with Biggest Loser, he feels that his success was measured by how good he felt afterwards. He said that boot camp actually made him enjoy exercising, and the workouts were flexible and accommodating to a variety of fitness levels. He liked these programs because they gave him what he needed to be successful.

Dave commented, “If I just said I wanted to get in shape, it wouldn’t happen. I need competition and to set goals which I could do through these programs.” Following these programs, he was able to run an entire 5K for the first time! Dave is planning on continuing with his training and is motivated to run a half marathon in the spring. He recommends joining The Wellness Program’s Fitness Center because it is not an intimidating environment, not crowded, and has the essential equipment needed for any workout.

His advice for having a healthy New Year is “Do it because you want to do it and feel better. Set reasonable goals that you can achieve along the way and then you will be able to see and measure your results and success.”
