How to Copy and Paste
From Netscape Navigator to Windows WordPad

These instructions describe the process of copying a portion of a document you are viewing on Netscape Navigator into Windows WordPad using Windows 95. This is useful if you want to print or save only part of an Internet document rather than the entire thing.

WordPad is a simple word processing program that is bundled with Windows 95. As an alternative, you can paste your text into any word processing program or text editor installed on your computer.

  1. Highlight the text on the Navigator screen that you wish to copy by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the cursor down the screen. When you have reached the last line you want to copy, release the left mouse button. If you wish to highlight text beyond the immediate screen, continue holding down the left mouse button and drag the cursor onto the grey bar at the bottom of the screen. Additional text will become highlighted. When you have reached the last line you want to copy, release the left mouse button.
  2. Click on Edit above the tool bar at the upper left side of the screen. Click on Copy.
  3. Click on the minus sign ( - ) at the top right of the screen to minimize Navigator.
  4. Click on the Start button, and choose Programs --> Accessories --> WordPad
  5. Click on Edit at the upper left side of the screen. Click on Paste. The text copied from Navigator will be pasted into WordPad.
  6. If you wish to copy additional text from Navigator into WordPad, follow steps 6-9. If you are ready to print, go to step 10.

  7. Return to Navigator by clicking on the grey Navigator program icon at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Repeat steps 1-2.
  9. Click on the grey WordPad program icon at the bottom of the screen.
  10. Click on Edit at the upper left side of the screen. Click on Paste. The text copied from Navigator will be pasted into WordPad.
  11. To print the text in WordPad, click on the Print icon (or File --> Print).
  12. When printing is finished, close WordPad by clicking on the X sign at the top right of the screen.
