Committees
Note: Committees to be Established
Executive Committee: The Executive Committee consists of four officers and three Councilors. The President of the CVT SS serves as chairperson. Four members of the Executive Committee shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
Program Committee: The Program Committee develops scientific and educational programs. After completing the arrangements for speakers and meeting places, this Committee provides the Secretary with the program.
Nominations Committee: The Nominations Committee is comprised of the Executive Committee. The Past President serves as the Chair of this committee. This Committee nominates at least two persons for each elective office to be filled. SOT headquarters staff then distributes the ballot to all eligible members of the CVT SS and takes responsibility for counting the votes. The candidate receiving the highest vote is then elected to the contested position even when the vote does not reach a majority of those voting. Successful candidates are invited to the EC meeting held at the annual SOT conference and introduced to the full membership at the membership reception and through the newsletter.
Membership Committee: Appointed by the Executive Committee, the Membership Committee has the charge of expanding the membership of the CVT SS as appropriate for the objectives and goals of the Section.
Awards Committee: Appointed by the Executive Committee, the Awards Committee has the charge of recognizing the contributions of SOT members who have made a significant contribution to advancing the objectives of the CVT SS. The committee works with headquarters to assure nominees are requested and any funds designated to support student travel are appropriately and efficiently handled.
Outreach Committee: The Outreach Committee’s purpose is to permit dialogue between members of the CVT SS. The Secretary-Treasurer serves as the chief editor of the CVT SS newsletter, soliciting assistance from associate editors, as necessary.
Mentoring Committee: The Mentoring Committee designs and maintains a mentoring network to foster scientific and professional collaboration between toxicologists at all stages of their careers.
