
The Brock Lab is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to join their group in investigating the role of oxidative stress and inflammation in the regulation of renal and hepatic microvascular function in human health and disease. Duties will include both in vivo and in vitro (cell culture studies, western blot, flow cytometry, microscopy, etc.) in animal models. Additional duties include: literature search, experimental design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, assisting PI in training graduate students, and assisting PI in writing. A PhD in Pharmacology, Physiology, or a related biomedical field is required. At least one year of experience in cell culture studies, western blot, and other molecular techniques is also necessary. A Senior Research Specialist position is available at West Virginia University School of Medicine to manage the day-to-day operations of both the Biochemistry (50%) and Cell Culture/Viral (50%) Research Facilities within the Center for Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences. An undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, or related field is mandatory, with a Masters degree being preferred. A familiarity with basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, sample processing and storage, basic data analysis techniques) is mandatory.
Experience with basic techniques of primary cell isolation and culture is preferred, as is experience with basic biochemical assays and procedures. However, as techniques and requirements will evolve with time, training will be provided to the successful applicant that meets all other criteria.

Duties will include signaling studies in vivo and in vitro (muscle bath studies, PCR, Western Blot, binding, etc.) in animal models. Additional duties include: literature search, experimental designs, data analysis, manuscript preparation, assisting PI in training graduate students to acquire experimental skills, and assisting PI in grant writing.
A PhD in Pharmacology, Physiology, or Biochemistry is required. One year experience in in vitro muscle bath, cell culture studies, Real Time PCR, Western Blot, and other molecular techniques is also required.
