Adolescent Medicine


The Pediatrics Department of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences, West Virginia University Physicians of Charleston, is ready to care for the health needs of children in southern West Virginia by offering Adolescent Medicine services to pediatricians, family practitioners, primary care physicians, schools and families. 

 

The department can assist in the care of adolescents with a multitude of problems or concerns including but not limited to:

·        Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

·        Adolescents with chronic illness

·        Mood disorders, including depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress

·        Autism and Asberg's

·        Gynecologic concerns, including a menorrhea, hirsutism, polycystic ovary syndrome

·        Disorders of the male reproductive system, including pubertal disorders

·        Issues related to the gay, lesbian, or bisexual adolescent

·        Sexually transmitted diseases
