Nephrology



The Pediatrics Department of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University Charleston Division is ready to care for the health needs of children in southern West Virginia by offering Pediatric Nephrology services to pediatricians, family practitioners, and to other primary care pediatricians.

Dr. Myra Chiang Dr. Myra L. Chiang, MD, board certified in pediatric nephrology, can assist in the care of children age’s 0-18 years with kidney problems that include:

  • Hematuria/Proteinuria
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Hypertension
  • Nephrotic syndrome/Glomerulonephritis
  • Congenital renal and urologic disorders
  • Fluid electrolyte and acid base imbalance
  • Renal tubular disorders
  • Acute and chronic renal failure

Other services offered include:

  • 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
  • Percutaneous Kidney biopsy
  • Renal replacement therapies
  • Peritoneal Dialysis
  • Hemodialysis
  • Renal Transplantation
  • Continuous hemofiltration

The WVUPC (West Virginia University Physicians of Charleston) Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 for referral appointments. The pediatric nephrologist sees referrals in clinic 3 days a week, serves as an Attending, Consultant and as an academic advisor to residents.
