The featured speaker is Susan E. Hickman, PhD, Associate Professor in
the School of Nursing and Senior Scholar with the Center for Ethics in Health
Care at the Oregon Health & Science University. She leads the research
for the National POLST Paradigm Initiative Task Force and is the principal
investigator on a multi-state NIH RO1 grant studying use of the POLST Paradigm
in nursing homes entitled "Converting Treatment Wishes into Orders at
the End of Life."
