Under the Title: TOWARDS A SOCIETY FOR ALL AGES: Challenges and Changes in Rural Aging at the Beginning of the 21st Century; Policy Implications.
The International Conference on Rural Aging 2000 features a Policy Debate, 2000 Forum on Rural Aging, addressing the four main areas of the 1999 International Year of Older Persons (Situation of Older Persons; Aging and Development; Lifelong Individual Development; Intergenerational Relationships), and their policy implications in Rural Aging. Three morning panels, three afternoon panels and a final plenary will address identified issues and suggest recommendations for rural aging policy development. The plenary session "Towards a Society for All Ages" will summarize conclusions and recommendations in a draft: "Plan of Action on Rural Aging in the 21st Century." The draft Plan will be considered by participants of the Conference, finalized and incorporated into the United Nations International Plan of Action on Aging (2002).
