Abstract
Meeting the substantial unmet dental needs of the elderly throughout the world is a tremendous challenge. The symposia (Sessions I-III) will address country-specific issues pertaining to identifying and helping to solve the oral health problems of older adults. Speakers are internationally respected dental experts who will present their national/regional epidemiologic dental needs data and then propose specific strategies necessary to improve oral health status. The Sunday morning symposium (Session IV) will be a guided discussion examining the potential for increased multinational and public/private collaborations as well as the pursuit of other approaches culminating in global initiatives to enhance geriatric oral health.
