The Interdisciplinary Faculty Committee is comprised of faculty who represent five major disciplines at West Virginia University:
Social Work
Doris Nicholas, MSW, EdD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at West Virginia University, with areas of concentration in Human Diversity, Multicultural Practice and Health Care Practice and Aging.

Nursing
Barbara Kupchak, PhD, RNC, FNAP is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at West Virginia University. She
is an expert in the areas of Health Promotion and Risk Reduction.

Dentistry
Richard Meckstroth, DDS is a Professor of Dental Practice and Rural Health at West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He spends extensive time working with providers and students at the Rural Health Clinics throughout West Virginia to improve the quality of service available to patients in these areas.

Medicine
Mark A. Newbrough, MD is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at West Virginia University School of Medicine, Charleston Division. He is also the Medical Director of the Cabin Creek Medical Center. He completed a Geriatrics Fellowship at WVU and has extensive experience in treating geriatric patients.

Pharmacy
David P. Elliott, PharmD, BCPS, FASCP, FCCP is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy, Charleston Division, where he also serves as the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Programs. He has many publications to his credit in the area of geriatrics and long term care.

Public Policy
David K. Brown, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the West Virginia University School of Community Medicine, where he also serves as the Associate Director of the Center on Aging, Education Unit. He has written many articles and a book on public policy and aging.

Geriatric Medicine
Richard Ham,
MD, is the Director of the WVU Center on Aging. He has specialized in the health
issues of the elderly for the past 20 years, and helped develop the first board
certification examination for geriatrics specialists.
Richard Layne, MD, is a Professor at the West Virginia School of Medicine where he serves as Section Chief of Geriatrics.
He is also the Associate Director for Clinical Services at the WVU Center on
Aging.
