A college education is one of the most important investments a student and family can make. In many instances family resources are not sufficient enough to cover the cost of the education. With tuition rising on an annual based --the School of Medicine tuition has doubled in the last ten years-- the pressure on students and their families is greater than ever before. By supporting our students through academic scholarships, we can ease some of the financial burden and emotional stress of high tuitions and allow these great scholars to focus on learning the art of healing.
An investment in our students is an investment in the future of this institution and the future of medical care. By increasing the numbers of scholarships available at WVU, we can improve our ability to recruit high quality applicants. And, by creating a better experience for students, we can increase their loyalty to WVU and encourage them to "pay it forward" to a new class in the future.
Students can be supported with both endowed and non-endowed scholarships. These programs offer naming opportunities and the chance to make a permanent difference to WVU Health Sciences.
