Message from the Dean
Patricia Chase

ChaseThe successes we achieve in academics, research and service are all linked to the support we receive from donors like you. Because of your continued support, we can further our work in discovering new drugs and better ways to deliver them, serving the state with reliable pharmaceutical information and services, and graduating top-notch pharmacists ready to meet the needs of today's patients.

Accomplishments made possible through our generous donors include:

  • The West Virginia University Board of Governors recently recognized the School of Pharmacy with the distinction of being a WVU Board of Governors Program of Excellence.
  • The school serves as the largest provider of continuing education for West Virginia pharmacists.
  • Graduates of the professional program in pharmacy perform above the national average on the national licensing examination (NAPLEX) for pharmacy.
  • The Mylan Center for Pharmaceutical Care Education is a state-of-the-art teaching facility that includes a model pharmacy, pharmaceutical and computer laboratories, rooms for special projects and case studies, a hospital pharmacy room, and a drug information library.
  • In the past 5 years the pharmaceutical sciences Ph.D. program has grown by a third in the number of students and graduate faculty and our students have authored more than 45 publications in national and international pharmaceutical science journals.

Researchers in the School of Pharmacy, the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, and the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences are working together on what is known as the overlap region of biotechnology, nanotechnology and information technology.

The WVU School of Pharmacy remains a leader in education, research and service. Through the assistance of private support, this success will continue to grow.
