"All of us who work at WVU Children's Hospital are proud of the life-saving healthcare services we provide to women and children throughout our state and region. Gift dollars help us provide state-of-the-art medical services and all the pediatric sub-specialties required to be an exceptional children's hospital."

Newborn and Pediatric Critical Care Services
WVU Children's Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia that offers the entire spectrum of services needed to care for critically ill newborn and pediatric patients. In order to continually respond to the critical needs of our children we must enhance existing critical care services for pre-term through adolescent patients. In addition, expanding medical sub-specialties available and supporting the services through involvement in community-based educational and prevention programs will help meet our mission as a full service children's hospital. Numerous components of this support are contingent on gift funding ranging from $25,000 to $1,000,000. These projects can be fulfilled through multi-year pledges.
Maternal & Infant Care
The Maternal Infant Care Center at WVU Children's Hospital offers state of the art care to women before, during, and after delivery. The unit offers a family-friendly environment with rooms large enough to accommodate family members as well as space to allow neonatal team to respond to infant needs and for the OB team to stabilize mom if necessary. Each room is equipment with state-of-the- art lights, suction and monitoring equipment for mom as well as another set for baby. While the unit easily accommodates moms during a typical 48 stay, it is also designed for mothers who may spend months in the hospital awaiting the arrival of their new baby. An average 1,600 babies are born in MICC each year with 48% of those being high risk. Numerous opportunities to enhance this service for expectant mothers from across the region are contingent on gift funding. Specific projects and pricing can be designed with the donor's wishes including multi-year pledge fulfillment plans.
Pediatric & Neonatal Ground Transport
Each year thousands of infants and children become seriously ill or critically injured in West Virginia and surrounding states. WVU Children's Hospital's neonatal and pediatric ground transport system allows our team of specialists to be accessible to every critically ill child in the region. Most ground transport systems in West Virginia focus on adult patients. Local hospitals might not be able to provide the technology and expertise necessary to deal with neonatal and pediatric emergencies. The goal of the Pediatric Ground Transport Program is to provide continuous support to local hospitals when they are caring for a critically ill infant to child and to provide quick, efficient and safe inter-hospital transportation to WVU Children's Hospital. Gift dollars help fund the operation of the neonatal and pediatric ground transport systems - a total of $500,000 is needed.
Pediatric Patient Care Enhancement
Every year over 6,600 children are patients within the Pediatric Care Center at WVU Children's Hospital. In addition to the medical subspecialties required to provide ultimate care for these children, some facility enhancements are required to maximize the utilization of caregivers and create an updated environment for the children. Specific funding is needed to transform patient rooms into isolation rooms, providing them with the special environment many of our patients require. The Pediatric Care Center has not been refurbished and updated since its original construction nearly 20 years ago - funding is required to bring this area up to date and present a bright and pleasant environment for our families. Refurbishing and enhancement throughout the Pediatric Care Center will range from $50,000 to $250,000. Multi-year options for pledges are available to help us realize this goal.
