Jeff is a native New Englander, having grown up in Massachusetts. He has particularly fond memories of the White Mountains in New Hampshire and attended nearby Dartmouth College as an undergraduate, playing intramural ice hockey, serving as President of his co-ed fraternity, being a Big Brother, spending a semester abroad studying in Spain, and receiving a B.A. in Religion while doing so. From there he went to the Caribbean for medical school, attending the American University of the Caribbean in Sint Maarten. After two years in the sun and sand he traveled to the Emerald Isle, completing his core clinical rotations in Waterford, Ireland before returning to the United States.
He completed his clinical rotations in North Carolina at Duke University, in South Carolina and in West Virginia. It was then that he first experienced West Virginia and it was love at first sight. He is a graduate of the West Virginia University Rural Family Program and considers himself fortunate to have the opportunity to stay with the program in the capacity of attending physician and faculty preceptor. In his PGY-3 year he received the STFM Residency Teaching Award and in his first year of attendingship received the Harpers Ferry Preceptor of the Year award. He is an active member of the West Virginia Medical Society, serving as a Councilor and Delegate representing the Eastern Panhandle.
He also serves as Secretary on the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Medical Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health of all West Virginians by promoting health education, leadership and research, encouraging healthy lifestyles and enhancing access to quality healthcare. He has a special interest in geriatrics and preventative medicine.
He greatly values the time spent with his wife Christine and sons Ryan, Joseph, and Nathan. An avid sports fan, he enjoys the outdoors, watching his eldest son play football and baseball, and hiking the many local trails available. He is eager to learn how to kayak and hopes someday to conquer the easily accessible Shenandoah and Potomac rivers.
