Family Med |
Mark returned to his Mid Atlantic roots in 2005. After growing up in Ellicott City, Maryland and attending College and Medical School at the University of Virginia, he began a nine year active duty Air Force career with stations in California, Portugal, and Colorado. While at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, he directed a PA training program.
His love of teaching led him to a four year stay at the University of Colorado Family Medicine Residency in Denver. His enthusiastic and innovative teaching earned him the Department’s “Teacher of the Year” three times and the Family Physician Teacher of the Year for the entire state of Colorado in 2002 (awarded by the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians).
His special interests are physical activity for youth and adults, running injuries and biomechanics, hospital based medicine, and flight medicine (he is still an Air Force Reserve Flight Surgeon).
Mark’s wife Roberta is a Pediatric Infectious Disease physician working at Children's National Medical Center. Outside of playing with his 2 young children Leo and Lily, Mark loves to run in his free time and you will catch him on the scenic C & O canal and Appalachian Trail- both of which are easily accessed from the clinic. He still competes nationally for the US Armed Forces in distance events. Mark is excited to be back in a small town setting teaching residents and medical students and working in a thriving practice
