Assistant Professor, Pediatrics |
Sarah Moerschel, MD
Sarah enjoys her busy practice at Harpers Ferry Family Medicine. As a board certified Pediatrician, she sees her own patients and acts as a specialist consultant to other members of the practice. She is also the Clerkship Director for medical student education in Pediatrics.
She loves the combination of teaching and patient care, and hopes to inspire some of her students to train in Pediatrics and return to the Panhandle to practice in the future. Sarah graduated with honors from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts where she was Class President and captain of the rugby team. She attended medical school at the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago. Sarah completed her residency training in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she received the Humanitarian Award for her contributions to the residency program and patient care.
Following her residency, Sarah was invited to stay and join the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She practiced and taught at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for three years. In 2003, with two young children, the Moerschel family was searching for a rural setting where the children could thrive. They chose to move to Shepherdstown, her husband’s hometown. Sarah enjoys running, camping, cooking, and spending time with family.
