ENTRANCE COUNSELING
All new borrowers through the Federal Direct Stafford Subsudized/Unsubsudized Loan or the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan are required to complete Entrance Counseling before your loan(s) can be disbursed. You are considered a new borrower if you have never borrowed before in one of these loan programs or you have paid off your prior loans. Entrance counseling explains your rights and responsibilities as a borrower. To complete entrance counseling log onto www.studentloans.gov Select Entrance/Exit Counseling and then complete the Entrance Counseling session. Then select Stafford (Direct Graduate PLUS only) or Combination for both. WVU will be notified electronically when this has been completed. This must be completed by the student before the loan(s) can be disbursed. Parents are not required to complete entrance counseling.
EXIT COUNSELING
All students who have graduated, withdrawn, completed a degree or dropped below half-time enrollment and have received any type of federal, state or institutional loans while attending WVU are required to complete exit counseling. WVU sends monthly notifications to Educational Computer Systems Inc (ECSI) because they handle all of our exit counseling. ECSI will prepare your exit counseling material and notify you when they are ready to complete on-line at their website. If you fail to complete your exit counseling a "hold" will be placed on your records at WVU. If you have questions regarding exit counseling please contact ECSI at 888-549-3274 or WVU Office of Student Accounts at (304) 293-4006.
