According to federal law,
a student cannot receive aid that exceeds the student's financial need
or the cost of attendance. When an overaward exists, the student's
aid must be reduced or the cost of attendance increased if applicable.
To avoid an overaward, always inform the Financial Aid Office of any other
types of financial assistance you will be receiving such as: outside
scholarships, vocational rehabilitation, state grants, tuition waivers
or fee abatements (departmental, military, federal), fellowships etc.
The Financial Aid Office is required to take into consideration other assistance
you may be receiving from other sources when determining your financial
need.
