AEF AIR FORCE SPOUSE SCHOLARSHIPS

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR CANCER RESEARCH (AACR) SCHOLARSHIPS
Awards scholarships to minorities and women enrolled as full-time graduate or medical students, residents, clinical or postdoctoral fellows, or junior faculty members. For more information visit their website at http://www.aacr.org

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY CHAMPION PROGRAM
The Society has established the College Scholarship Program to assist childhood cancer survivors in reaching their educational goals. The Society's College Scholarship Program is open to any survivor of childhood cancer who will attend an accredited two or four year institution and diagnosed before the age of 19, and who are currently 25 and under. Applicants must be legal residents of Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. A recipient is awarded $1,000 for the first year and renewals may be awarded in the amount of $500. The maximum scholarship amount to one student will be four awards totaling $2,500. AMERICAN SCHOOL HEALTH ASSOCIATION (ASHA)
ASHA provides financial assistance to students in School Health Education, Nursing and Pediatric/Adolescent Medicine or Dentistry who academic and professional goals include the health of youth. ATTORNEY GENERAL OF WV PUBLIC HEALTH TRUST
Scholarships are available to students who are WV residents, attend colleges or universities in WV, major in a public health field, and attain a 3.2 GPA.  The student must also sign a promissory note that if they do not work in WV after graduation, they will repay the loan (3 months work in the State for every $1000 received).  The first year a student receives this scholarship the amount is $1000 ($500 each semester).  Thereafter, the renewal applicants receive $2000 per year ($1000 each semester).  The deadline to apply is June 1.

BECKLEY AREA FOUNDATION
The Beckley Area Foundation manages over 130 scholarship funds established by individuals, firms and organizations desiring to assist WV residents in obtaining a college education. DR I.E. BUFF MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships are available to students with need attending WVU and first preference given to students enrolled in Health Sciences. Recipients must be graduates of a West Virginia High School.

BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S FOUNDATION (BPW)
Scholarship is available to female students 25 years of age or older and who demonstrates a clear career plan.  Student must be a citizen of the US, must have an expected family contribution of $2,500 or less as determined by completing the FAFSA by March 1, and be completing certification between December 1st and August 31.  Student must NOT be earning a MD, DDS or PhD. CAMC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
These scholarships are awarded by the Charleston Area Medical Center to Nursing, Allied Health and Medical Students. Applications are accepted each year from May 1st through June 1st. The committee will meet around June/July of each year to determine who will receive the scholarships. CHINESE AMERICAN MEDICAL SOCIETY
This non-profit organization has awarded 3-5 scholarships a year to medical and/or dental students and scientists. CLAIROL LOVING CARE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

COSTEP PROGRAM
Program offered by the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) to assist nursing students in return for an agreement to work for the PHS after graduation. As an active PHS Officer during the senior year, students will receive pay and allowances of approximately $2300 per month. In return, the students agree to work for the PHS for twice the time sponsored. Interested students should call (301) 594-2919. DATATEL SCHOLARS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
This independent tax-exempt foundation awards scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students attending eligible client institutions. For more information see their website at Datatel scholarships

DENTAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
To recognize and provide $5000 in financial support to a third or fourth year dental student who has demonstrated academic excellence in dentistry, financial need and a commitment to community service. Recipients must be enrolled in an accredited US dental school as a full-time student, be in good academic standing, demonstrate financial need, demonstrate thru personal activities a strong interest in charitable work and community service and be nominated by the dean of their dental school.

FORD FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIPS FOR MINORITIES

THE FOUNDATION OF MONONGALIA GENERAL HOSPITAL HEALTH CAREER SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships available to students in the following career fields:  Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, Dietitians, Speech Therapy, Physician Assistant (must have RN degree), Primary Care Physicians (graduate study), Nurse Midwifery and Physical Therapy.  Student must also be a resident in one of the following counties: Monongalia, Marion, Taylor, Preston, Wetzel, or Harrison counties of WV; Fayette or Green counties of PA.   Applications are available by contacting the Greater Morgantown Charitable Trust at (304) 292-3311.  Application and supporting documentation must be received by March 15, at The Foundation of Mon General Hospital.  The FAFSA must also be filed.

FRUGALDAD.COM SCHOLARSHIP

ROBERT W. GUNN BOOK SCHOLARSHIP/PUBLIC & COMMUNITY HEALTH
This endowment shall provide funds for the purchase of textbooks for students enrolled at WVU in the School of Medicine.  Recipient shall demonstrate academic promise and financial need.

ELIZABETH RANDALL HARTMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship awarded to an outstanding female in a health sciences field. No application is necessary.

HISPANIC DENTAL ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION
Funded by Procter & Gamble Professional Oral Health.  Scholarships awarded to support meritorious work by students who seek to advance their scientific and applied clinical knowledge as they enter into the oral health profession. Maximum award in the amount of $1000 to entry-level students who have been accepted into an accredited dental or dental hygiene program.  Students must have permanent resident status in the US and be a current student member of the Hispanic Dental Association. The application must be received by the Foundation no later than June 30th for dental students and July 14th for dental hygiene students. 

HOPEWORKS SCHOLARSHIP
Provides two, $1500 scholarships to Monongalia County, WV high school graduates who are regularly enrolled as undergraduate students.  Must demonstrate (a) need for financial assistance due to loss of parental support from death, divorce or loss of family income, (b) excellence, commitment and leadership through involvement in school and community organizations, and (c) high academic promise.  Funds come from the Greater Morgantown Community Trust (GMCT).  Applications are available by contacting the GMCT at (304) 296-3433.  Application deadline is March 23.

HOWARD HUGHES FELLOWSHIP
Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. medical, dental or veterinary school and the fellowship research may be conducted at any academic or nonprofit institution in the United States except the National Institutes of Health. INTERNATIONAL ORDER OF THE KING'S DAUGHTERS AND SONS HEALTH CAREER SCHOLARSHIPS
Available to students in at least their second year of medicine (MD), dentistry (DDS) or nursing and at least third year of pharmacy, physical or occupational therapy and medical technology. GREATER KANAWHA VALLEY FOUNDATION
The foundation offers many and various ways for you to acquire a post-secondary education. Some scholarships are designated for graduating seniors of certain schools. Others are awarded for specific fields such as nursing or law. Scholarships are based on financial need and not academic achievement. CARRIE KOETURIUS SCHOLARSHIP FOR RETURNING WOMEN STUDENTS
Awards are made to women enrolled full or part-time in any WVU undergraduate academic program whose college education has been interrupted for a total of 2 years or who entered college 5 years after high school. Preference is given to WV residents, single parents and full-time students. Visit the WVU Center for Women's Studies website for more information and an application.

HOWARD G. LAPSLEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Candidates must have been raised (attended or eligible to attend elementary or secondary school) in one of the following communities: Union, Somerset or Middlesex Counties. Candidates shall be eligible for degrees in medicine from an accredited medical, osteopathic or dental school. Candidates shall demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Board of Directors. Candidates are required to provide the Board with the Graduate Professional School Financial Aid Service (GPFAS) financial statement and be able to attend a personal interview with the Board at Muhlenberg if required. Candidates must complete and return the application and financial statement forms between January 15 and May 1 of the year in which they wish to be considered for scholarship assistance. JOHN L LEWIS SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Scholarship awarded to relative of past or present member of United Steel Workers of America or United Mine Workers of America.  Awarded to capable and needy students.  Preference given to child, spouse, brother or sister of present or past union members. THE LYON SCHOLARSHIP
In honor of WVU's first female graduate, this scholarship pays full room and board for one year to a female student from West Virginia.  Submit a written request to: Scholarship Committee, Attn.: S. MARINE CORPS SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
You could qualify for a Marine Scholarship if you are the son or daughter of a Marine on active duty or in the Reserve, former Marine or Marine Reservist who has received an Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge, or who was killed while in service of our country, or the son or daughter of an active duty, reserve, or former U.S. Navy Corpsman who is serving or has served, with the U.S. Marine Corps and you are a graduating senior in high school or currently attending college or a vocational/technical institution, or planning to attend college or a vocational/technical institution and your 2009 family income is $82,000 or less. LALITTA NASH MCKAIG SCHOLARSHIP

MCNAIR SCHOLARS PROGRAM
This program is open to full-time WVU students who have completed their sophomore year of study, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and are considering graduate school. Applicants must be US citizens and/or permanent legal US residents and be first generation college students with demonstrated need or a member of the numerically under-represented, such as African-American, Latino-Americans and native Americans. EDWARD ARTHUR MELLINGER EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
The Mellinger Foundation is committed to the support of education, in accordance with the wishes of its founder.  Her goal was to provide an ongoing memorial to her brother, Edward A. Mellinger, who believed that education was of major significance to the progress of human society.  Accordingly, the Foundation devotes a major portion of its resources to providing scholarship and loan assistance to young men and women from western Illinois and eastern Iowa who attend colleges and universities throughout the nation.  For additional information and application, visit their website.

MORTAR BOARD FOUNDATION
Each year, the Mortar Board National Foundation awards fellowships to assist members in financing their graduate/professional studies. Annually, members are chosen to receive these fellowships based on a history of academic excellence, strong recommendation, scholarly promise, financial need and Mortar Board involvement. MULTICULTURAL SCHOLARSHIPS

WILLIAM M. MURRAY PUBLIC HEALTH EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships provided for students enrolled at West Virginia University in the Master of Public Health program. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by West Virginia University. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria.

THE PARKERSBURG AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

P.E.O INTERNATIONAL PEACE SCHOLARSHIP (IPS)
The IPS Fund was established in 1949 to provide scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the US and Canada.  Visit their website for additional information.

P.E.O. PROGRAM FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION (PCE)
PCE Was established in 1973 to provide need based grants to women in the US and Canada whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and/or their families.  Visit their website for additional information.

P.E.O. SCHOLAR AWARDS (PSA)
PSA was established in 1991 to provide substantial awards to women of the US and Canada who are pursuing advanced degrees or are engaged in advanced study and research at an accredited institution.  Visit their website for additional information.

PINE FAMILY FOUNDATION, INC.
This foundation was started and funded for the purpose of supporting research towards finding cures for incurable diseases.  The current focus being on Alzheimer's and AIDS.  Scholarships from $2,500 to $5,000 and grants from $10,000 to $20,000 are being provided to researchers and graduate students who are working towards a cure for these diseases.  For additional information and application to apply, contact the Pine Family Foundation, Inc. at (512) 467-6166.  The deadline for submitting scholarship or grant proposals to the foundation is March 15 of each year.

PREDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS IN BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES
This program is open to both U.S. Citizens and foreign citizens.  Students who hold or are pursuing a medical or dental degrees (M.D., D.O., D.V.M., D.D.S.) may be eligible to apply for fellowship support for study toward a Ph.D. or an Sc.D.  Application materials are available at national-academies.org/osep/fo

RELIEF FOR FAMILIES OF 9/11 VICTIMS
The September 11 Scholarship Alliance is coordinating scholarship funds created to assist families of people killed or permanently disabled in terrorist attacks on America on September 11, 2001, including airplane crews and passengers, World Trade Center and Pentagon workers and visitors, and relief workers - including fire fighters, law enforcement, port authority officers, and emergency medical personnel.  Scholarships are available for victims' dependent children, spouses, or domestic partners.  Each of the scholarship funds have policies and requirements.  Please see www.scholarships911.org for further information.

RANDALL W. REYER SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is to provide scholarship aid to students who have excelled academically and are in financial need. Recipient needs to be a graduate student working toward the Ph.D. degree in basic medical sciences or medical students working toward the M.D. degree.

2009 ROYBAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Lucille and Edward R. Roybal Foundation is dedicated to provide scholarships to Hispanic undergraduate and graduate students pursuing public health careers and wishing to provide public health care services in primarily low income, Spanish speaking communities in the United States. SALLIE MAE FUND SCHOLARSHIPS
American Dream Scholarship - Offers scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 to African-American students with demonstrated financial need. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average, who meet Pell Grant eligibility, and are enrolled full-time.

First in My Family Scholarship - Provides scholarship awards of $500 to $5,000 to Hispanic-American students who are the first in their family to attend college.

Unmeet Need Scholarship - Open to families with a combined income of less than $30,000, this program provides a "last dollar" resource of $1,000 to $3,800 when no other funds are available.

SPENDonLIFE CREDIT CHALLENGED SCHOLARSHIP
This program offers financial assistance for college students who are unable to obtain student loans due to the current credit crunch or a negative credit history. Awards range from $500 to $5,000 a year of full-time study and are based on financial need and participation in the application process. ARLENE G. AND LOUISE STONE SWIGER DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP
Provides a stipend of $12,000 plus payment of tuition.  Students beginning their doctoral study (PhD. or EdD) the succeeding fall semester or students in their first year of doctoral study are eligible for these awards.  Must be US Citizen.  Applications may be obtained from the Office of Graduate Education, WVU, PO Box 6203, Morgantown, WV  26506.  Application Deadline is February 15th.

TALBOTS WOMEN'S SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Talbots is offering a scholarship program for women looking to pursue a college education later in life. The scholarship is open to U.S. and Canadian residents and must be seeking an undergraduate degree from an accredited two- or four-year college or university or vocational-technical school. Scholarship awards are based primarily on financial need and previous achievements for women who earned their high school diploma or GED at least 10 years ago. THETA CHI FRATERNITY FOUNDATION (SHERWOOD AND JANET ROBERTS BLUE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP)
Available to applicants who show financial need, demonstrate superior scholarship, and be either a member in good standing of Theta Chi Fraternity or an employee of Theta Chi Fraternity. To qualify, an applicant must be at least a second semester freshman. All sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are candidates for bachelor, masters, doctorial, or other professional degrees are welcome to apply. THOMAS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship may be awarded to a full time or a part time student pursuing a degree in a health care field.  The applicant must:  1) provide proof of at  least a 2.75 grade point average; 2) have volunteered a minimum of 75 hours in a health care facility.  Special consideration will be given to persons who have volunteered at Thomas Memorial Hospital; 3) be a resident of WV; 4) provide appropriate tax and personal reference information.  Application packets are available through the Education Services Department, Thomas Memorial Hospital, 4605 MacCorkle Avenue, SW, South Charleston, WV  25309.  Application deadline is May 1.  For more information contact the Volunteer Services Office at (304) 766-3788. 

JOHN W. TRENTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship available to students in paramedical, nursing, technicians such as laboratory, x-ray, surgical, physical therapy, etc. for deserving graduates of Preston High School. Based on financial need. Must file the FAFSA by March 1st. No application is necessary.

TUITION SCHOLARSHIP FOR CHILDREN OF CLASSIFIED STAFF
A qualified applicant must meet all of the following requirements:  a child of a current full-time WVU classified employee; be a legal dependent as defined by the IRS; a student in good standing at WVU or accepted for admission to WVU.  The scholarship is for undergraduate students only.  The criteria for selection of this scholarship is evidence of financial need as the primary criteria with academic performance, being the secondary criteria.  Academic performance will be evaluated on grade point average and also on ACT or SAT scores for incoming freshmen.  Applicants not receiving other gift aid at least equal to tuition and fees will be given priority consideration.  Scholarships will be awarded by a selection committee.  To be considered, applicants must file a FAFSA, along with the Tuition Scholarship Application for Children of Classified Staff, which can be obtained from the Staff Council Office, PO Box 6850, Morgantown, WV  26506-6850. Application deadline is May 1.

TYLENOL SCHOLARSHIPS

USA FUNDS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
USA Funds will award renewable scholarships to students with financial need.  They plan to award up to $3 million in new scholarships next year to full-time and half-time undergraduate students and full-time graduate students who have an annual adjusted gross family income of $35,000 or less.  Other criteria to be considered include citizenship, past academic performance and potential, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, work experience and career and educational aspirations and goals.  Up to 50 percent of the awards will go to students who are either members of an ethnic group or who are physically disabled.  Applications will be accepted through February 15.  Program details and an application may be found online.  Questions regarding this program may be directed to the USA Funds Scholarship program, Tel. 1-800-537-4180.

WALTON FAMILY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

WEST VIRGINIA RURAL PRIMARY CARE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

WVU LOYALTY PERMANENT ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

WV UNITED HEALTH SYSTEMS HP SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships are offered through the United Hospital Center (UHC)  to students from Harrison and Doddridge counties in WV.  Applicant must be accepted as a student in medicine, osteopathy, dentistry or veterinary science; or be enrolled in an accredited state training program for nurses, mid-level practitioners or allied health personnel. Applicant must also demonstrate financial need, personal leadership and community service.  An interview with the selection committee may be requested.  Recipient will need to practice in WV following graduation or training for a minimum of one year for each year the scholarship was received; otherwise, the scholarship converts to a loan with interest.
