Patient Care
The West Virginia University School of Medicine is indeed fortunate to be affiliated with some of the finest health care facilities in the state of West Virginia. Not only do they serve as a base for clinical instruction, they are the site of care for countless numbers of West Virginians.
As one School, we provide learning opportunities throughout the state.
In Morgantown, all of our health services are operated by WVU Healthcare. On this campus, our primary teaching facilities include Ruby Memorial Hospital, West Virginia University Children's Hospital, the Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center, and the Physician Office Center. West Virginia University Hospitals is the only hospital in the State to receive Magnet Status by the American Nursing Association, and is one of less than a dozen academic medical centers to do so. In addition, it has been recognized as a top 100 hospital.
At the Charleston Division, WVU faculty and residents provide care at the Charleston Area Medical Centers' three campuses - Memorial Division, General Division, and Women and Children’s' Hospital. University Physicians of Charleston provides support to faculty practices.
In the Eastern Panhandle, West Virginia University Hospitals-East includes City Hospital in Martinsburg and Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson. WVU operates a very busy family practice clinic in Harpers Ferry.
WVU faculty members also provide care in dozens of smaller locations across the state, including community hospitals and rural health clinics.
