Pilot Projects
The WVU ICRC Pilot Project Grant Program is designed to stimulate new injury prevention and control research. The primary intent of the program is to enable the conduct of small projects, and the collection of pilot data that leads to the subsequent development of larger, independently-funded investigations.
The establishment and maintenance of a competitive program of research pilot projects has been critical to the rapid development of our Center’s research portfolio. We have supported nine (9) pilot projects since 2005.
Previously completed pilot projects are described on the Completed Projects page.
The availability of funding for any new pilot projects will be announced and disseminated to all WVU faculty members and all external ICRC faculty affiliates. Application procedures will be posted and maintained on our website.
One pilot project, entitled Longitudinal Investigation of Adolescent Life Satisfaction and Violent and Aggressive Behavior, is currently underway. The specific aim of this project is to examine the impact of life satisfaction and related variables on violent and aggressive behavior during adolescence. The project seeks to identify and clarify the temporal sequence of the relationship between adolescent life satisfaction and related variables and violent and aggressive behavior for the first time. Subject data will be drawn from the National Institute of Child Health and Development Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development. (PI= Keith Zullig, PhD )
