PUBLIC HEALTH GRAND ROUNDS
The Department of Community Medicine and the Injury Control Research Center in the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center co-sponsor the Public Health Grand Rounds (PGHR) on the first Wednesday of each month. The purpose of the grand rounds is to offer all faculty and students an opportunity to hear national leaders, faculty from Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and guests from state and local health departments, offices, and agencies.
The PHGR will:
- Increase awareness and understanding of the National Public Health Performance Standards Program
- Include presentations on new and emerging issues in public health and injury control
- Promote a national dialogue on the critical nature of public health infrastructure development
- Discuss the need for high-quality and well-organized population-based public health services
- Improve interactions with agencies and practitioners of public health that will be of benefit for the education and field placements of students
- Host combined grand rounds with the schools of medicine, nursing and pharmacy
- Offer continuing education opportunities for public health and health services professionals with CEU and CME credits
- Incorporate workforce-related issues, injury research and public health practice.
- Establish department representation on the RCB Health Sciences Center and university-wide distance learning initiatives
- Broadcast to the other WVU campuses and beyond

Time and Location: Each presentation will be on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm in Room 1905 at the RCB Health Sciences Center Learning Center (at the pylons).
