Institute of Occupational & Environmental Health

The Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health is located within the Department of Community Medicine and has educational, service, and research functions. The Institute has a formal residency program in occupational medicine and collaborative relationships for student training with other academic programs at West Virginia University. The Institute also has a clinical service which is responsive to the needs of workers, employers, and special populations in the State of West Virginia and elsewhere. The clinical service also offers environmental health consultation services.

As part of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University, the Institute can draw on the expertise of university specialists in all medical fields, as well as related fields, including toxicology, ergonomics, safety studies, business administration, and engineering.
