Setting Up a Local Site in Macromedia Dreamweaver 8
Once you have established your site Dreamweaver you will then enter the information necessary to connect to your personal Web page.
Set the Local Info:
- Assign a Site name. Site names can be anything you want you may want to choose something personal to help you remember your site name.
- Select the Local root folder. Click on the folder icon to the right of the text box, and browse to the directory which contains the files for your site.
- Select a Default images folder. Click on the folder icon, browse to the directory which contains the files for your site and select the images folder.
- Select a cache. Use a checkbox to select Enable Cache .
- Select OK when finished.

Set the Remote Info:
In the Category column on the left, highlight Remote Info.
- In the Access field, select FTP from the drop down menu.
- More options will open.
- In the FTP Host field, enter the host address. It follows this formula: www.hsc.wvu.edu
- In the Host Directory field, leave this blank, unless you have been instructed otherwise.
- In the Login field, enter the username that Academic Technologies provided for you.
- In the Password field, enter the password that Academic Technologies provided for you.
- Choose Save password only if the computer you are using is secure.
- Click OK when finished.
Important: Passwords are case-sensitive. Ensure your Caps Lock is disabled.
