Setting Up a Local Site in Macromedia Dreamweaver 8

Once you have established your site Dreamweaver you will then enter the information necessary to connect to your personal Web page.

Set the Local Info:

1. Assign a Site name. Site names can be anything you want you may want to choose something personal to help you remember your site name.
2. Select the Local root folder. Click on the folder icon to the right of the text box, and browse to the directory which contains the files for your site.
3. Select a Default images folder. Click on the folder icon, browse to the directory which contains the files for your site and select the images folder.
4. Select a cache. Use a checkbox to select Enable Cache .
5. Select OK when finished.

Set the Remote Info:

In the Category column on the left, highlight Remote Info.

1. In the Access field, select FTP from the drop down menu.
2. More options will open.
3. In the FTP Host field, enter the host address. It follows this formula: www.hsc.wvu.edu
4. In the Host Directory field, leave this blank, unless you have been instructed otherwise.
5. In the Login field, enter the username that Academic Technologies provided for you.
6. In the Password field, enter the password that Academic Technologies provided for you.
7. Choose Save password only if the computer you are using is secure.
8. Click OK when finished.

Important: Passwords are case-sensitive. Ensure your Caps Lock is disabled.
