Norton AntiVirus Setup for the Health Sciences CenterInformation Technology Services (ITS) has available a central virus scanning server for all PC desktops at the Health Sciences Center. This server will provide the latest virus definition protection for your PC and is available for Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP users. Macintosh users will continue to use their existing stand alone anti-virus solution. Laptops that are not permanently connected to the HSC network will also need stand alone software. Once connected to the server, your PC's virus definitions will automatically update as new definitions are available. ITS will maintain the server and provide licenses for all HSC computers connected to the server. We recommend that all users download and run the anti-virus software from this server for automatic updates of the latest virus protection. By doing so will help reduce the number of viruses circulating on our network. To install this software, please follow these steps:
Your PC is now connected to the central server and virus definitions will be automatically updated as new definitions are released. If you have any problems with the installation, please contact your departmental Computer Support Contact or call the Help Desk at 304.293.3631. Thank you. |
