Learning CenterThe Learning Center (LC) helps Health Sciences Center faculty, students, and staff use computers effectively for teaching, learning, and research. Our goals are 1) to increase the availability and use of computers by students, faculty, and staff. And 2) support Health Sciences Center faculty in the use of computers to support their course curriculum and research. The Learning Center staff provides training on productivity software, serves as technology consultants to the students, faculty, and staff, and provides training on various curriculum-related software programs supporting the schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. On-line registration is available for Learning Center training, go to Workshop Regsitration or call 304.293.3631 (Option 5) if you are unable to register on-line. FacilityThe Learning Center facility on the 2nd floor of Health Sciences North contains two 25 seat computing classrooms that can be combined into one 50 seat classroom, and 63 public workstations. The facility is available to WVU faculty, staff, and students for open-lab usage, computerized testing, and scheduled workshops. The Learning Center offers Windows XP Professional computers with 19" flat panel displays, HP LaserJet printers, an HP Color LaserJet printer, color flatbed scanners, an OCR scanner with document feeder, digital sender, and a variety of professional and educational software. Our classrooms have Smart Sympodium technology and electronic room controls on instructor podium to remotely control classroom functions, as well technology classroom software allowing the instructor view, control, and project student computers. Six study tables with 30 laptop stations featuring Ethernet/power ports are available, and wireless Internet is available throughout the Learning Center and other student areas in the Health Sciences Center.
