Online TrainingThe Learning Center provides the opportunity for HSC employees to learn software skills anytime, anywhere, and at their own pace. The Health Sciences’ Learning Center provides a wide variety of online workshops via SOLE. As a faculty, staff, or student member of the Health Science Center, you have access to training in products such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe Suite, Web Browsing, Google Docs, to name just a few. These multimedia based learning modules are provided by the web-based training company Atomic Learning™, and can be used to learn skills from A-Z or to select individual topics to quickly answer “How do I do that?” questions. Many modules also include links to Quick Reference files for your convenience. To access learning modules, simply log in to SOLE and click the Learning Center Online Workshops site link. Once you have entered the site, select your primary platform (MAC or PC) and click the folder with the title you are interested in learning. It may take an additional click or two to find the correct software version. Once a new window appears, you can start at the beginning or just select the segment that interests you. Most segments are only a couple minutes in length. These modules offer efficient access to the training tutorials and additional opportunities for learning software. They provide your top level support for answering common questions encountered when learning popular software packages - at your own time and place. As feedback and participation grow, we will add more of the 100+ available topics based on most users’ needs. Please remember that the Learning Center will continue to offer face-to-face sessions for specialty workshops that are specific to the educational initiatives at Health Sciences and are not currently offered by Atomic Learning™. Please feel free to call the Learning Center at 304.293.3631 Option 5.
