MDTV TechnologyVideo ConferencingMountaineer Doctor Television (MDTV) provides multiple telehealth and education services through two Multipoint Control Units (MCU). We have a 12 port Codian MCU as well as a 16 port Tandberg MCU that supports H.323 (IP) and H.320 (ISDN) protocols. MDTV also has two Portable H.323 (IP) Tandberg 880 units that are used primarily for Administrative Videoconferencing events. These units can be transported and utilized anywhere in the Health Sciences Center that has a network jack. Telemedicine FacilitiesMDTV currently has one Telemedicine Consultation room located on the ground floor of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center. This room is currently equipped with a Tandberg 880 unit and is utilized by various WVU Specialty Physicians for providing telemedicine services. We plan to upgrade this unit to High Definition in 2010. MDTV also has a High Definition Portable H.323 (IP) Lifesize unit that can be used as a mobile telemedicine cart. This unit can be reserved for use in the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, West Virginia University Hospital or the Physicians Office Center. This unit is scheduled through our office and is made available on a first come first serve basis. Telemedicine clinical consultations always take priority over administrative videoconferencing. Distance LearningThe Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in Morgantown, West Virginia currently has 13 MDTV capable rooms. Four of which currently have high definition capabilities. We plan to have two additional rooms equipped with built in high definition videoconferencing gear by Spring 2011. See below for HSC Room Listing.
