MDTV TechnologyVideo ConferencingMountaineer Doctor Television (MDTV) provides multiple telehealth and education services through two Multipoint Control Units (MCU). We have a 12 port Codian MCU that supports H.323 (IP) and H.320 (ISDN) protocols as well as a 10 port Tandberg MCU that supports H.320 (ISDN). When combined, MDTV has the ability to connect up to 22 participants simultaneously. Telemedicine FacilitiesMDTV currently has one Telemedicine Consultation room located on the ground floor of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center. This room is equipt with a Tandberg 880 unit and is currently utilized by various WVU Specialty Physicians for providing telemedicine services. In 2010 MDTV plans to begin utilization of a High Definition Portable H.323 (IP) Lifesize unit. This will be a mobile system that will be used primarily for telemedicine services throughout West Virginia University Hospitals. This unit will be scheduled through our office and made available on a first come first serve basis. However, telemedicine clinical consultations will always take priority over administrative videoconferencing. Distance LearningThe Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in Morgantown, West Virginia currently has 13 MDTV capable rooms. Three of which have high definition capabilities. See below for HSC Room Listing.
