General FAQs

1. Request user account
   Send an email to gcg@hsc.wvu.edu with desired username and email address.
   
   
2. Getting Started with Seqlab (gcg.exe version)
   Note: If you using a dial-up modem, please refer to number 3 in this section for instructions on logging in.
   1. Download gcg.exe or vncviewer in the downloads section.
   2. Launch gcg.exe and type gcg.hsc.wvu.edu as VNC Server name. Then click ok.
   3. Enter your username and password to login.
   4. Then,Right click on the desktop, scroll down to Hosts, then select Terminal Console.
   5. Next, type ./gcgstart
   
   
3. Getting Started with Seqlab (Mindterm SSH Client version)
   Note:Use this only if your connection is poor with the above version.
   1. Open Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator. Other browsers are not supported by SeqWeb.
   2. In the address bar type: http://gcg.hsc.wvu.edu.
   3. Enter username and password to login.
   4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the hyperlink Mindterm SSH Client.
   5. DO NOT CLOSE ANY WINDOWS and Accept the certificates.
   6. At the SSH Server/Alias: prompt, be sure gcg.hsc.wvu.edu is entered.
   7. Log in using your assigned username and password.
   8. You are now logged in. Lets start the GCG software package.
   9. Then, Right click on the desktop, scroll down to Hosts, then select Terminal Console.
   10. Next, type ./start
   11. You will receive a web address similar to http://gcg.hsc.wvu.edu:5801 6.) Open a new browser windows (File > New Window) and paste the new web address you received earlier. 7.) You should see VNC authentication. Type in password. This password has been emailed to your HSC account. 8.) At the prompt, type ./gcgstart
   
   
4. Getting Started with SeqWeb 2.1
   1. Open Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator. Other browsers are not supported by SeqWeb.
   2. In the address bar type: http://gcg.hsc.wvu.edu.
   3. Enter username and password to login.
   4. Click on the the SeqWeb logo.
