Antivirus Information

All email sent to the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center from the Internet is scanned for possible virus infection by Norton Antivirus for Email Gateways.

NOTE: Although this protects our system from infection from outside, it is possible for an infection to occur from within in a variety of ways. Therefore it is important that every computer within the Health Sciences be protected by local Virus Scanning software, and that your virus definitions be up to date.

For this reason, Information Technology Services provides Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition licenses, installation software, and update subscriptions to users within the Health Sciences Campus Networks.

In addition to scanning email for viruses, we are also blocking file types and subject lines that have been associated with viruses or trojans.
