  • The new system (both printing and copying) will require faculty, staff, and students to add money to their mountaineer cards. They will have a Mountie Bounty account associated with their ID card. They may add money to their cards at a value-add machine (kind of like a reverse ATM).

If you do not have a Mountaineer Card or your Mountaineer Card is damaged, then a new card may be purchased at any of the value add machines for exactly one dollar. Purchased cards don't have money on them initially so additional money must be added in order to copy or print once you buy the card.

The value add machines accept $1, $2, $5, $10 and $20 dollar bills only. It is important to note that the value add machines don't give back change, so whatever you put in the machine is put on your card. Value add machines are located in the Downtown Campus Library, Evansdale Library, Health Sciences Library and the MountainLair. More locations will become available soon.

Departments will no longer establish accounts with the Libraries so the "Authority to Copy" forms, formerly used by departments to make copies, will no longer be accepted. The Mountaineer Card Office will now issue departmental cards. These cards will allow funds to be placed on them from the departmental budget and the costs of printing or copying, when this card is used, are charged back to the department. Departments will be able to use their Procurement card or an Intra-University form to put money on the departmental cards by contacting the Mountaineer Card office.

Q: What if my card does not work?

A: You may go to the Bennet Tower Mountaineer Card Services office between 8:30 am - 4:30 pm weekdays or the Mountainlair office, which is open 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm weekdays (fall and spring semesters).

    Q: Can I get a new picture?

A: Yes, but you must pay the $10 card replacement fee and turn in your old card. Go to either Mountaineer Card office listed above.

    Photocopying Procedure

    • Photocopies can now be made for 10 cents per page without a card and 7 cents per page with a card.
    • There are 2 photocopiers available in the room across from the books on the main level of the library. Each photocopier will accept one dollar bills, nickels, dimes, and quarters or you may use the mountaineer card (or copying card) reader near each machine to use the Mountie bounty on a Mountaineer Card instead.
    • To use the Mountaineer Card readers you must slide your Mountaineer Card on the card reader next to the photocopier you wish to use.
    • Once the card reader recognizes the money on your card it will display the number of potential photocopies left on your card.
    • As long as the card reader is displaying the number of photocopies left on your card, you will be able to make photocopies using the Mounty bounty allocated on your card.
    • The card readers do time out quickly so if you need more time between photocopies, then you may need to press "*hold" on the card reader to keep the session active or you will have to slide your card through the card reader again. This will need to be done after every copy is made.
    • Once you have finished making photocopies it is advised to make sure that your card's account information has been cleared from the copier. This can be done by waiting for your session to time out or by pressing "quit" on the numpad located on the card reader.
    • For the convenience of our patron's a stapler and a three hole punch are available for their use in the copying room.

Stop by the reference desk or the circulation desk if there are any questions or if assistance is needed.

    Printing Procedure

    • There are no longer any printers in the group study rooms. All print jobs will be sent to the two laser printers on the main floor of the library. One of these printers is locted near the computer clusters (lc-pharos-cblc). The other printer is located in the room across from the books on the main level of the library (lc-pharos-library).
    • Whenever you choose to print within the library, the normal dialog box comes up, then the Pharos dialog box appears asking you to name your print job.
    • You will then need to walk over to "printer kiosk" station behind the two laser printers in the main lobby area of the library.
    • You need to swipe your mountaineer card through the card reader with the magnetic stripe facing you on the bottom of the card.
    • In order to print a print job, you may then press the name of the print job you want to print and press the print button on the screen to print it.
    • When you are done selecting print jobs to print, you may then logout.
    • Each page that is printed from the public computers in the library costs 6 cents per page. You must use your mountaineer card or your value-add card in order to print anything from the public computers. Because of this you can't use coins to pay for print jobs.
    • If you don't have any money on your Mountaineer Card you may add money onto it using the value add machine located in the room across from the books on the main level of the library.
    • For the convenience of our patron's a stapler and a three hole punch are available for your use at the circulation desk.

Stop by the reference desk or the circulation desk if there are any questions or if assistance is needed.
