Library Liaison Program
The Health Sciences Library offers a liaison service for the departments and programs within the Health Sciences Center. The purpose of this service is to provide an educational link between the library and the Center's departments by establishing an ongoing partnership with teaching faculty. Liaisons can visit your department to share current information regarding library programs, resources, and services and can discuss your needs by e-mail or phone. Faculty are invited to contact liaisons about library collections and services, existing resources in your field, and procedures for requesting materials for the library to support your teaching, clinical and research needs.
Health Sciences Library liaisons can do the following for you:
- Visit classes and departments to speak about library issues
- Conduct information resources training for faculty and residents
- Update you on new library resources and services
- Advise you on the effective use of library databases
- Design library orientations and classes for you and your students
- Collaborate with you to integrate library research skills into the curriculum
- Encourage your recommendations for new books, journals, databases, and other information resources (print or electronic)
- Consult with you on effective database selection and searching
- Provide information services to support your research
