Quit Tobacco Workshop (One 3-hour session)

The Translational Tobacco Reduction Research (T2R2) Program is offering a 'Quit Tobacco Workshop'. These one-time, 3-hour sessions will be conducted by trained smoking cessation facilitators. The Workshop is FREE and open to everyone in the community.

New workshops are being scheduled and will be posted here soon.

To attend the workshop please contact Kathie Friend in the T2R2 office at 293-1699, or email her at kfriend@hsc.wvu.edu. Registration is limited, so call today.

Freedom From Smoking (Eight 1-hour sessions over 8 weeks. BYO lunch)

Freedom from Smoking is the American Lung Association's eight week cessation program. It includes eight one-hour group sessions that teach a quitting approach through positive behavior change. Since no two smokers or smoking habits are alike, the program begins by helping you find out how ready you are to quit smoking. It then helps you identify the people, places and things that trigger your urge to smoke. With that information YOU develop a quitting plan that works for you.

The Freedom From Smoking (FFS) course is FREE to all WVU, WVU-H, and UHA faculty, staff, and students and community members. Registration is required. For more information, or to register, call Kathie Friend in the T2R2 office at 293-1699, or email her at kfriend@hsc.wvu.edu.

Breathe & Be Tobacco Free Support Group

Mark Twain said: “Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times.” While quitting smoking may not be that easy, it is true that staying quit is even harder. This support group is intended for former smokers; its focus is relapse prevention. The group is open to the public.

For more information, please contact Kathie Friend in the T2R2 office at 293-1699, or email her at kfriend@hsc.wvu.edu with the subject line ‘Free Support Group.’
