The Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening Program
"You take care of others, so take care of yourself"
"You take care of others, so take care of yourself."

Cancer Prevention and Control at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, West Virginia University, provides the public and professional education and partnership components of the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program. Data-driven, evidenced-based outreach and education serves as the core of public education which includes free clinics, one-on-one eligibility screening, educational sessions, employee outreach, and broad-based campaigns such as the Walks for Women and the Quilts of Hope. Professional education aims to reach healthcare providers and affect their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors to ultimately result in more women in the priority population being screened appropriately. Each year the Public Health Nurses Physical Assessment Training and regional Breast and Cervical Cancer Information Programs are offered to healthcare providers participating in the Program. In addition to public and provider education, WVU BCCSP coordinates the partnership component of the Program. Effective outreach and education relies on effectively joining with community stakeholders and already existing groups in various communities throughout the state.
