Professional Education
The Professional Education components include:
- The Public Health Nurses Physical Assessment Training (PHNPAT) course, which provides in-depth instructions regarding breast and cervical cancer and certifies RNs as screening providers for breast and cervical cancer.
- Continuing education opportunities providing physicians, nurses, radiologic technologists, cytotechnologists and other medical professionals with current information about topics relating to breast and cervical disease.
- Audiovisual and written products providing information about new and updated techniques and scientific thinking on topics addressing screening, diagnosis and treatment of breast and cervical cancers.
Quality Assurance
- Quality Assurance is maintained by the WVBCCSP through technical
assistance and training for all screening and referral providers. The
Clinical Services Coordinator also conducts on-site quality assurance
monitoring follow-up visits to ensure compliance with Program protocols
and ensure maintaince of best practice standards. It is also the
responsibility of the Clinical Services Coordinator to provide clinical
breast examination/breast self examination training, utilizing the MammaCare
method, for screening providers and for participants at the yearly
Public Health Nurses Physical Assessment Training.
