Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) Program
Grants, Contracts, and Subcontracts

CPC Mission:  To help people become active participants in their health care through cancer education, information and applied research.

While each CPC program has goals unique to its focus, all come together as part of a strategic, comprehensive approach to the control and prevention of cancer.  Designed to maximize the benefits to the public, the strategy emphasizes program integration and efficient, effective use of available resources. The overall goal of the CPC program is to translate research findings to the public through the implementation of evidence-based programs.

Cancer Prevention and Control’s five primary programs are:

  1. Mid-Atlantic Cancer Information Service (DC, MD, VA and WV)
  2. Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program: Public and Professional Education and Partnership Program
  3. Appalachia Community Cancer Network (WV and western Maryland)
  4. Community Education Programs
  5. Comprehensive Cancer Control Program and the Mountains of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition
    • Colorectal Cancer Education
    • Prostate Cancer Education
    • Cancer Survivor Travel
    • Pain Initiative
