Service to the State
The West Virginia University Program in Clinical Laboratory Science is indeed fortunate to be affiliated with some of the finest health care facilities in the state of West Viriginia. Not only do they serve as a base for clinical instruction, they are the site of care for countless numbers of West Virginians.
As one School, we provide learning opportunities throughout the state. Our primary teaching hospitals include West Virginia University Hospitals, including Ruby Memorial Hospital, West Virginia University Children's Hospital, and the Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center in Morgantown, West Virginia University Hospitals East - the merger of the former Martinsburg City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital in the eastern panhandle, and the hospitals of the West Penn Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh, PA., the hospitals of Excela Health in Westmoreland County, PA., the VA Hospital in Martinsburg, WV, and Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
In addition the faculty provide clinical support to the WVU Hospitals laboratories. While not providing direct patient care, the faculty provide support in research, quality assurance, education and training.

West Virginia University Hospitals is the only hosptial in the state to receive Magnet Status by the American Nursing Association, and is one of less than a dozen academic medical centers to do so. In addition, it has been recognized as a top 100 hospital.
