Ashley Hahn Calvery to sign copies of her book at Friends Gift Shop

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Ashley Hahn Calvery will hold a signing of her book “My Mom The Miracle: 1 Woman, 2 Cancers, 3 Years, 4-Ever Grateful” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday (July 30) at the Friends Gift Shop at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Calvery is the daughter of Billy Hahn, assistant to WVU Men’s Basketball Coach Bob Huggins, and his wife Kathi.

In 2008, a then-engaged Calvery put her wedding on hold and took a leave of absence from her teaching position to move to Morgantown and become a full-time patient advocate for her mother, who was being treated at the WVU Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. Not only was she at her mother’s side every minute, but she was also able to enlist help from many others through constant email updates. The book details the roller coaster ride the family endured during Kathi Hahn’s treatment for two different cancers – ovarian cancer and leukemia.

Late last year, Calvery and her mother appeared on the Today Show to talk about their story. You can see their appearance here: www.today.com/id/52679701#53745338.

Calvery and her husband, Brian, currently live in Florida. She has been teaching kindergarten since 2005.
