Berkeley Medical Center to host Lap Band seminar

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Have you been searching for a solution to weight loss? Many people have failed countless times at diet, exercise, and commercial programs. What they don’t realize is that gastric banding with the Lap-Band® System may be the answer.

Persons interested in learning more about the Lap-Band procedure being performed at WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center are invited to attend a free presentation at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28 in the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, located on the Berkeley Medical Center campus.

Robert E. Cicchino, Jr., D.O., a general surgeon with University Surgical Associates, will provide an overview of the Lap-Band procedure while explaining the pros and cons of the system. This minimally invasive procedure typically takes less than an hour. Seminar participants will also have an opportunity to ask their questions.

The Lap-Band Adjustable gastric banding system is the only FDA-approved weight loss procedure for adults that want to lose 30 or more pounds and whose weight is affecting their health. Some insurance companies have limited coverage for bariatric programs. Under the direction of Dr. Cicchino, Berkeley Medical Center began offering the procedure to the community in 2011.

As seating is limited, reservations are required for this free presentation and may be made by calling University Surgical Associates at 304-596-6900. For more information on the Lab-Band System, visit LAPBAND.com.
