Blood drive at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital June 12

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Every two seconds, someone needs blood, platelets, or plasma to survive. These patients depend on blood donors to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life. 

WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is hosting a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, June 12, in the Bruce McClymonds Conference Center. The event supports Central Blood Bank, J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital’s supplier for blood products. 

Appointments are recommended. To make an appointment, donors can:

• visit centralbloodbank.org, click “Make an Appointment,” and search with group code W4310004;
• download the Central Blood Bank Mobile App; or
• call Rachel at 412-209-7241.

To save time at their appointments, donors are asked to complete their health history questionnaires online using DonorPass. The questionnaire must be completed on the same day as the donation. The questionnaire is available at www.centralbloodbank.org/donorpass.asp.

Donors can also sign up for Central Blood Bank’s BL Rewards program to earn points by donating blood. Points can be redeemed for gift cards or donated to one of several not-for-profit agencies. To learn more or sign up, donors can visit www.centralbloodbank.org/bl-rewards. 

The Bruce McClymonds Conference Center is located on the first floor of the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute in the newly opened southeast tower of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Donors are asked to park in the patient and visitor area and use the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute main entrance.
