Butterfly Blog: Current Epic sites to transition to E-numbers

WVU Medicine locations that currently use Epic – including J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Medical Center, and Jefferson Medical Center – will see a slight change beginning on Wednesday, May 10.

As part of the Butterfly Initiative, these facilities will switch to a single patient identifier called an E-number, which will replace the current MRNs (medical record numbers).

Beginning on May 10, the E-number will be used alongside the MRN on labels and armbands in FormFast, and on June 10, the MRN will be dropped entirely from all labels.
