Capehart joins WVU School of Pharmacy
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Krista Capehart, Pharm.D., joined the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy as director of the Wigner Institute for Advanced Pharmacy Practice, Education, and Research and clinical associate professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy.
Dr. Capehart’s areas of interest include improving healthcare access in rural areas, increasing patient self-management awareness and knowledge, improving medication counseling opportunities in community settings, and improving health literacy — the ability of a patient to understand and use health information provided with their treatment to improve their health and make informed decisions.
“Being able to harness the resources, connections, and talent of the WVU School of Pharmacy to advance community pharmacy practice in West Virginia will enable us to become an innovative thought center for direct patient community care,” she said.
Capehart’s previously served as a faculty member at the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy, where she oversaw the PharmUC Patient Care Clinic.
