Crocco named to new position with WVU’s Clinical and Pharmacologic Research Center

Todd Crocco, M.D., has been named as the new medical director and principal investigator for WVU’s CPRC, effective August 1, 2016. The CPRC conducts paid clinical trials that compare generic to name brand medications already on the market and how medications or drugs are absorbed and used by the human body.

Dr. Crocco also serves as the Health Sciences Center’s chief business development officer as well as the director of health partnership ventures. He is a professor in the School of Medicine’s Department of Emergency Medicine.

Crocco served as chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine for over 10 years and achieved many accomplishments, including the expansion of emergency services into emergency departments throughout northern West Virginia, the creation of institutional urgent care systems, as well as growth of the departmental research enterprise. Crocco has devoted his research and academic interests to studying pre-hospital emergency care systems for the treatment of stroke victims, examining the feasibility of neuroprotective agents administration, new thrombolytic therapies, and improving community awareness of the signs and risk factors of stroke.
