Over the past five years, the WVGEC has had the honor of presenting the David Z Morgan Award in recognition of exceptional leadership and devoted service to geriatrics education in our state.  The award has been presented annually at the WV Geriatrics Society Scientific Assembly.  Dr. Morgan was a native son of WV, a faculty physician at West Virginia University in the Department of Internal Medicine, Director of the first geriatrics program at WVU, and involved with the first GEC, the Mountain State GEC. Dr. Morgan was a well known advocate for older adults and mentor to many students over the years of his tenure.  Dr. Morgan passed away on November 5, 2010 and we devote the David Z Morgan Award in recognition of his incomparable contributions to the field of geriatrics in West Virginia.

The WVGEC, with assistance from the WV Geriatrics Society Board of Directors, is now calling for nominations for this prestigious award which will be presented at the WVGS Annual Scientific Assembly on October 2, 2013 at the University of Charleston Geary Building, 2nd Floor Ballroom.
