Donations wanted for Scott’s Run Settlement House

The Student Association of Public Health is collecting nonperishable food items for Monongalia County families in need. Each department and center in the School of Public Health is encouraged to fill a minimum of one laundry basket with donations for Scott’s Run Settlement House, a local nonprofit that operates food and baby basics pantries and a backpack feeding program.

Faculty and staff should coordinate what they’re planning to bring with their administrative support staff. Items needed include stuffing; canned green beans, corn and other vegetables; cranberry sauce, gravy mix or jars of gravy; cake mix and icing; sugar; tea bags; dishwashing liquid; laundry baskets and detergent; and turkey pans. In lieu of perishable food donations this year, employees may contribute gift cards as part of their department’s donations.

The laundry baskets will be collected and delivered this Thursday (Nov. 17) so that families receive them in time for Thanksgiving.
